Sweetwater High School has a long, rich and storied tradition in sports. The Mighty Red Devils of Sweetwater High School has won many past championships in a variety of sports in both the South Bay (Metro League) and the County of San Diego (CIF). These championships won by both athletic teams and individuals reflect the rich and proud tradition of Sweetwater High School.

Many of Sweetwater High School’s past student athletes have continued on to play sports at the collegiate and professional levels and have achieved academic and sporting greatness. Two of Sweetwater High School’s most famous student athletes are:

• Gail Devers, Three Time Olympic Gold Medal Winner and World Track Champion.
• Dan Saleaumua, National Football League Player.

Over the years, many other Red Devil student athletes have continued on to participate in collegiate and/or professional sports.

The Sweetwater High School Community is proud of its long and rich heritage of producing champions. The SUHI community looks forward to its current student athletes such as current Metro League Lady Golfing Champion Brianna Rodriguez to uphold its proud athletic traditions.
